About Us
Equinox Woodworks is a worker-owned, cooperative design/build company located in Yancey County, North Carolina with extensive experience in residential construction. We strive to create beautiful, ecologically sound, healthy, durable and affordable homes for our clients. We have assembled a skilled team of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and masons who can work closely together to bring the vision of your dream home into reality.
Over the years, we have designed many of the houses we’ve built along with the help of our clients. We draw inspiration from the work of Christopher Alexander’s A Pattern Language, Sarah Susanka’s The Not So Big House, William McDonough’s Cradle to Cradle and Pretty Good House. We are also happy to work with other designers or architects to come up with a plan that best suits our clients’ needs.
Equinox Woodworks is a proud member of the Green Built Alliance and we encourage our clients to build homes that qualify for the Green Built Homes program. We are also members of the Asheville Home Builders Association, the International Living Future Institute and a Certified Living Wage organization. Todd Kindberg, the Company Manager of Equinox Woodworks, is a licensed NC contractor (#87526) and carries full worker’s compensation and liability insurance.
