About Us
At Equinox Woodworks, we build more than homes—we create enduring, artful dwellings that reflect the people who live in them. Our custom homes are rooted in craft, sustainability, and equity—designed for those who care as deeply about how a home is built as they do about how it lives and feels.
We are a worker-owned company dedicated to building beautiful, high-performance homes for discerning clients who value quality, ethics, and environmental stewardship.
Collaborative Design
We approach each project as a collaboration between builder, designer, and client. No two homes are alike. Each is an original—shaped by the land, informed by your vision, and executed with precision. From timber framing to passive house detailing, we combine traditional craftsmanship with modern building science to create warm, lasting spaces that inspire.
Worker-Owned, Values-Driven
Equinox Woodworks is proudly worker-owned. That means every member of our team has the option to have a stake in the company and a voice in how we operate. We pay a living wage (and then some), offer excellent benefits, and invest in each other's growth. This model fosters a culture of accountability, integrity, and pride in every home we build.
When you work with us, you’re not hiring a faceless company—you’re partnering with a dedicated team of skilled craftspeople who are personally invested in your project’s success.
Beyond Green: Building for the Next Hundred Years
Our homes are designed to exceed green building standards, with thoughtful material choices, high-efficiency envelopes, and low-impact construction practices. Whether you’re aiming for Net Zero, Passive House, or simply want to tread lightly on the land, we’ll help you create a home that’s as responsible as it is beautiful.
Built on Relationships
We’re not a volume builder. We take on a select number of projects each year to ensure every client gets our full attention. Our clients are artists, creatives, and thoughtful homeowners who see their home as a personal expression—and who want to work with a builder that shares their values.
DESIGN INSPIRATION
Over the years, we’ve designed many of the homes we’ve built—always in collaboration with our clients. We draw from influential works like:
A Pattern Language by Christopher Alexander
The Not So Big House by Sarah Susanka
Cradle to Cradle by William McDonough
The Pretty Good House movement
We’re equally comfortable working alongside your architect or introducing you to trusted design partners. Whether you come to us with sketches or full plans, we’ll help bring your ideas to life.
